A warm welcome to all you wonderful “Green” people to our 2022 winter newsletter.
Our AGM is on Feb. 20 at 2pm. Paul Manly is our guest speaker. If you wish to attend by Zoom please contact sunshinegoldsberry@telus.net. Only members will be able to vote, but everyone is welcome to watch the event. We would like to remind you of the six core values of the Green Party of Canada.
1) Social Justice
2) Ecological Wisdom.
3) Respect for Diversity
4) Non-Violence
5) Participatory Democracy.
6) Sustainability
As Greens, we need to unite around our shared values and vision that distinguishes us from other political parties. Last year was difficult for all of us, but we have reason to be optimistic as this new year unfolds.
There are activities that are happening in our riding. Port Alberni was active last summer and fall with an enthusiastic group of locals holding up Green signs leading up to the election. Green Waves are social and a good way to meet like-minded people. They also gathered for non-partisan waves for old-growth preservation.
Qualicum Beach also has non-partisan gatherings to protest old-growth logging. This began March 19, 2021, and has continued every Friday outside MLA’s NDP office (184 W. 2nd. Ave., Q.B.) from 10 to 11am. These are ongoing and take place rain, shine, and this winter, snow. If you know of activities in your community that might interest other Greens, please share them with us.
